Great day for hot chocolate.

Good times.
Free roller skating in Bentonville tonight from 6-8. Charlie hadn't ever been. . .and we never really wanted to pay for the whole family just so he could try since he is still but a lad. . .
but you can't beat free---
Randy had fun (even though it doesn't appear to be so in the picture)
Right before we left our house roller rink, Randy was getting ready & was trying to calm Gus down from a fit he was throwing & Gus settled for a squirt of cologne. . .unfortunately, he wanted me to hold him almost the ENTIRE time at the roller rink. . .and cologne gives me headaches! 1 squirt of cologne for a little body like that is 1 squirt too much.
He figured it's hard enough walking without wheels on his feet.
Excuse the red-eyes.

He had a birthday!
A shout out to the birthday boy---
As many of you know, Gus lives, eats, and breathes Ila. At times, this can be frustrating (emphasis excluded), but then there are moments when I feel joy about the love that he has for his sister.
He loves her & constantly wants to be with her, whether it is on top of her, in her mouth, next to her, dragging her, or feeding her the inedibles. . .he loves it all.
On that note, the kids all went down for nap this afternoon. Gus was the first to wake up. . .and I could tell he was still sleepy, so I snuggled up on the couch with him. . .and he quickly fell back to sleep.
After about 15 minutes of snuggling, I could hear Ila starting to fuss & I began to think about how I was going to seperate from Gus without him awaking. All of a sudden, Gus woke up & said, "My Ila". . .his voice sounding concerned. I responded, "I'm going to get her right now." Almost in relief, he replied "Oh" & then fell right back to sleep. I got Ila & he slept for another hour on the couch.
This made me laugh. His concern for his little sister. . .even when he is sleeping!
I have to tell ya, though. . .this explains the couple of times that Gus has come into the living room @ 3:00 a.m. when I am nursing Ila. . .He'll come in there---all sleepy-like & greet his little sister with a kiss & a "hi Ila."

A rave is necessary.
I used to love tax time. . .it was a time when the money that I loaned the government throughout the previous year----would come back to me.
I now hate January!!
January is when Randy's contractor's license is up for renewal, along with his liability insurance, worker's compensation insurance & also personal property assessment. . .
Personal Property Assessment. . .what about double taxation---come on people!! They are going to make us pay taxes on EVERYTHING we use for the business. . .again. . .and again. . .and again. . .every year. . .they even put in an allowance for office equipment even if you don't claim any. . .so the computer I am typing this on right now---I will have to pay property tax on every year until we get a new computer. . .and then I'll have to pay tax on it. Lame.
Liability insurance--no bigee. Contractor's license--no bigee. . .the rest is a BIGEE!!
We have to pay 11% of all of our employee's wages into worker's compensation----which is worth bucks if someone gets hurt---but nothing if someone doesn't.
We also have to match of all our employee's wages for SS & medicare---that doesn't even include what we already pay ourselves!
What this amounts to. . .the bottom line is that for each employee we have between Uncle Sam & The Worker's compensation commission. . .costs us $500 EVERY MONTH. . .plus what we pay for wages!
Not only this, but I got a letter from the IRS today saying that I owe $1577.16 in withholding tax (that's with a $500 penalty) WHAT? I called my accountant, and, believe it or not, he said that the Dept. Of finance & Administration will actually just generate a FAKE letter if they are missing a report from you for that particular month. They just make up the numbers just to get my attention. Well. . .they got it. In actuality, I owe $0 to them because I had 0 employees that month. Crazy.
I am bugged. This is the kind of stuff that truly puts small businesses out of business & never even gives them the opportunity to not be small anymore.
Just a note to do business with small businesses. They need all the money they can get.
By the way---anyone need a pool?

Let's hear it.
When Randy & I were first married, I made potato soup in the crock pot. . .and since I was new at this cooking thing. . .
Instead of using evaporated milk, I used sweetened condensed milk. . . So nasty!
Just the thought of that soup from that day makes me wanna puke.
It was quite the candied potato soup, let me tell ya. . .it was terrible, too, because we had NO money & so we tried to salvage the vegetables, potatoes & chicken from the soup so we drained them & washed them over & over again. . .but nothing helped. I think Randy did end up eating much of the remains only because he felt awful wasting it.
What is the most disgusting thing you've ever eaten?

Up to his elbows in. . .
The boys love to eat smoothie with Randy. . .so they were all chowing down on some smoothie last night (dad gives them bites out of the blender) & Gus stood up & went to grab for the spoon, tripped, and fell INTO the blender. . .with one of Randy's work gloves on his hand and all. . .I'm still not sure why he was wearing a glove. . .
Does Randy look calm or what? He yelled help. . .so I came running and when I saw what the commotion was about, I couldn't help but take a picture---he couldn't believe I could even THINK of taking a picture before cleaning up the mess. . .but if I cleaned up the mess first--what story would the picture tell?

Is he ALIVE?
This is almost too good to be true. . .but it actually was true! It was about 6:00 pm & I was feeding Ila cereal & Charlie was lying on the floor. After about 5 minutes, he yawned. . .& I asked if he was tired. He said yes. . .now just because Charlie says that he is tired---that does NOT mean he wants to go to bed. He laid there for 5 or so more minutes, closed his eyes, and never opened them again. He was out cold @ 6:15 pm! I carried him to his bed, put on his diaper & he never once opened his eyes. Dreams do come true, folks!! He awoke @ 6:45 am ready to rock & roll. Charlie was the baby that never slept in his carseat, never fell asleep being rocked & always needed to sleep in his bed. . .and continues to be that way. . .until yesterday!
